Plains & Pastures Bike Tour (2013)

I'm so proud to live here! Fredericton folks are just AMAZING!!!  Thank you one and all!!  My team raised over $2000.  The support was humbling.  What a great place to be!!!

Mind you, the journey isn't about me - it's about people who fight this horrible disease on a daily basis.  If you're reading this now, I hope you'll come back and sponsor me in the ride next time.

Bike for Breath

Many thanks to everyone and their generosity.  The amazing people in my life supported me to the tune of $377.  Some days it is just great to be here!   (Fall 2012)

I got an achievement badge on Fitbit today.  A Hot Air Balloon!!!!!  What a scream!!!  Oh the jokes that could be spun with that......  All jokes aside though, 2000 flights of stairs is nothing to sneeze at.  Well done ME!

This got me thinking about celebrating little things, that are actually big things.

The weather has finally turned and I'm back riding my bike again.  Serious bike people cringe at my riding gear but the phrase "get a life" springs to mind.  It works.  Period.

The path to work has to go through some inevitable traffic, but there is a long 3 km stretch of utter beauty.  It never fails to give me a bit of a lift.  When the mist is rising off the river and the Canada geese are honking ...... it's mesmerizing.

Here's me in full kit alongside my trusty beater.

And for those who really want to see more of me, this is the same spot on the path, just turning toward the river.  Isn't this a great place to bike in the morning?  This is worth celebrating.

More photographs - Before and After

What is it about pictures?  People keep asking "Where's the side by side before and after?"  It's just like a broken record!!  OK!  I give!  UNCLE!!!

Today was a celebration BBQ for the Fredericton Weeble Wobbles.  The team led the team fundraising in the summer Walk for Arthritis, AND won the Tier 3 Team Fundraising Plaque for Canada.  That's pretty cool eh?

Getting ready for the BBQ was actually a fun time.  I was trying on clothes and my daughter was vetoeing every single option that was offered up.  Eventually she gave up and brought me some of her clothes to wear, complete with threats on my life if I dumped ketchup on them!!!!  So here it is: 96 pounds melted off today.  BTW I'm the shorter one the right!!!!!

Maybe people want the really, really really before pictures?  Here's one when I was at UBC.

OK that's probably too much "before" for what most people mean.  Here's an active one a couple years ago when I was competing with Hunter.  He's such a good dog!!

 My thought for the day:

The woods are lovely, dark and deep

But I have promises to keep

And miles to go before I sleep

And miles to go before I sleep

Before and After Photographs

The single most common and recurring comment I've been getting on this blog is about photographs, or lack therof.  "Where are the BEFORE and AFTER photo's?"  Sigh.

Actually my first reaction is a poorly stifled giggle.  Photo's?  Candid Photo's?  Say no more eh?  OMG  That Monty Python skit was decades ago and yet it remains so close.  That speaks volumes about my brainwaves I'm sure.

Photos.  UGH.  In truth, I hate pictures of me.  I do my level best to stay out of them.  Often the best defence is a good offence, so *I* try to be the one taking the pictures.

Why?  The simplest of questions and the most difficult to answer.  But I promised to write the truth..... because every photo is stark evidence of not being "right".  Sober second thought, and being a mother of a young girl has forced me to look honestly at old photographs.  How can I be of any useful guidance to her if I cannot even face my own truth?

June 2011 - Bark in the Park

So here goes ..... the before and after photos of the past year.  July 2012 River Valley Obedience Trials

Despite the colour problems here, the shirt is the same in the two snaps.  There's approx. 80 pounds difference between the two pics.  I've got a long ways to go yet......
